KL Rahul, current captain of the Lucknow SuperGiants is set to be replaced as the captain of the team for the remainder of the IPL 2024. After receiving a brutal thumping of 10 wickets in the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday, the team owners are reportedly looking for a new captain for the LSG team. Going even further the team management is all set to not retain KL Rahul for the IPL Mega Auction 2025.
We must mention that reports surfaced online after the last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad that LSG owners are unhappy with Rahul’s Captaincy. We all had visuals of team owners scolding KL Rahul during the post match proceedings.
While an official announcement is yet to come, it’s been heard that either Pooran or Krunal Pandya will take over the captaincy role during the remainder of the IPL 2024. Rahul was brutally trolled for his slow batting by the netizens where he scored just 29 runs of the 32 balls against SRH.
Given that slow batting, the team had their lowest powerplay score in the IPL 2024. Even though Badoni and Pooran contributed towards the recovery, much of the damage was done by that time. Still we cannot blame KL Rahul much as the pitch has played too slow during the start of LSG innings. Also, Bhuvneshwar Kumar hugely dented their hopes for a quick start with those two wickets.
In response, Hyderabad completed the chase within 10 overs, a new T20 record. While this was some brutal performance from SRH, KL Rahul seems like going to pay the price for it. Stay tuned for more updates.
