It’s an End of an Era in IPL 2024 history as MS Dhoni has finally relinquished his captaincy for the CSK team just before the start of the key clash between CSK vs RCB. Ruturaj Gaikwad has been named as the new captain of the Chennai Super Kings franchise.
Leading his team to the epic six titles, Dhoni has made this franchise go places during his reign. With his leaving as captain of CSK, chances are slim that he will be continuing to play in the IPL next season. Yet, we shall wait and watch and can only expect our favorite captain cool to continue with those memories for years to come.

We must mention here that dhoni did signal about his “ new role” in a cryptic Instagram post a few days back. What we didn’t know is that just a day before the IPL 2024 he will surprise all Chennai Super Kings fans worldwide with this big decision. Well, we all know our very own captain cool has his own ways of putting things forward. Still, we can surely say that the IPL will never be the same again.
The captaincy saga gained a lot of eyeballs even last year when captaincy was handed over to Ravindra Jadeja mid-season, just to bring it back to Mahi again. So, we can say that this entire “ relinquish of the captaincy role” is handled in a better manner than last year.
It’s yet to be seen how Ruturaj Gaikwad will take on this CSK captaincy role as it won’t be easy for him to lead some big players like Ravindra Jadeja in the team. Also, with the IPL Mega Auction scheduled for 2025, we will surely see some fresh faces in and out of the CSK IPL squad.
